Bring Friends & Family (#BFF) Sunday Social is coming this September 9! Plan now to invite a friend or family member who doesn't typically attend St. Thomas to join you for worship and good eats immediately following each of our three services. Yummy breakfast foods after the 8:15 am service in the Fellowship Hall and a cookout and picnic after the 9:40 and 11:00 am services on our front lawn. Moon Bounce, corn hole and other games beginning at 10 am thru 2 pm. Don't miss it!
Ad Hoc BFF Sunday Social Planning Team Can you lend a hand to the Outreach & Evangelism Committee to help the church prepare to have an excellent outreach event to our neighbors this September? Folks who have hospitality gifts and enjoy working behind the scenes OR who have a great smile and a winsome personality are encouraged to sign up in the church office.
Potential New Tween Ministry the Senior Pastor and Children's Minister are exploring the possibility of starting a new, monthly tween ministry for kids in 3rd through 5th grade. Les Moineaux, formerly les Petits Chanteurs de Nogent-sur-Marne, have been singing and traveling in France and all over the world. Les Moineaux will be performing a wonderful concert at St. Thomas on Friday, August 17th at 7:00pm. A hamburger and hotdog dinner will begin at 5:30pm for a donations. A love offering will also be taken at the concert to help defray the costs of the boys' travel.
School Supplies: Tax-Free Weekend August 4 - 5th: St. Thomas will be assisting our Food Pantry families with needed school supplies over the next weeks. Beginning this Sunday through August 26th, the Missions Committee will have labeled boxes in the Narthex for the following supplies if your wish to donate.

Back Pack Donation Challenge: For each back pack donated through August 19th, the Missions Committee will match count for count. Parents this is a wonderful project in which to encourage your own children Thank ylou for blessing our community children. The Missions Committee.
Next OWLS Outing is Friday, August 17th. We will meet at church at 10 a.m. and leave by 10:15 a.m. to have lunch at "It's About Thyme" in Culpepper. Following lunch, we will browse around Culpepper. BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS - Sunday August 26th at all three services. Bring your backpack or lunch box to worship with you on Sunday at the service of your choice and Leslie Oakes will invite your child or teen forward with their backpack or lunch box to offer a prayer of blessing as they return to school the next day.
FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT - FRIDAY AUGUST 31ST IN THE EVENING - Plan to join us as we host dinner and the movie "Wonder" based on the New York Times best seller of the same name. "WONDER" tells the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters fifth grade, attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time. Child care will be provided. Dinner begins at 6 and the movie begins at 7. More complete details coming soon.
2018 EL Salvador Mission - STUMC will be sending a team to El Salvador again November 8 - 15. The team will partner with the El Salvadoran church to help with the construction of a local school in Ahuachapan. Please prayerfully consider being on the team.

New Family Resource Center: We now have a resource center located in our King's Kids check in area, full of helpful tools to help you disciple your child throughout the week. Here you will find books that may be borrowed, free resources, general information about our programs, and an additional check in station on Sunday mornings. Check it our sometime and keep visiting as we will rotate resources periodically.
Summer Sunday School - Beginning Sunday, June 10, there will once again be one large adult Sunday School class during the 9:40 hour. Our Chronological Through the Bible in a Year class is going strong and doesn't want to stop. They have invited the other two classes to join them for the summer months. Pat Dodson and Earl Amstutz are the teachers and are very excited about this project. You do not have to be doing the Bible reading to benefit from participating in this class, and you will enjoy the fellowship, but the readings are listed each week on the back page of the Bulletin. As always for our summer classes, we will have food (of course), singing , and prayer time. We sincerely invite you to join the adult Sunday School Class this summer for a fun and interesting time.

Bishop's Bible Challenge 2018: Virginia Bishop Sharma Lewis challenges us to read the Bible daily again this year, but this time in Chronological Order. "As we come to the end of our 2017 Bible Challenge, I pray you have found this journey through the Bible uplifting and enriching. Bible study is very essential to building our faith. Through God's Word, we gain an understanding that God is the one who gives the gift of knowledge for us to live productive lives as believers. I would like to invite you again this year to read the Bible chronologically (in the order of events). The readings will be posted on the conference website and in the monthly Advocate. If you were not successful in completing the challenge let me encourage you to try again this year.
VOLUNTEER CHAPLAINS NEEDED: The NOVANT hospitals in Manassas and Haymarket could use your help as a volunteer chaplain. The hours are very flexible and you will receive training prior to being assigned. This is a very rewarding program.
