Lock Lomond Elementary School:  We would like to gather a team of 12 - 15 people to serve as liasons to Lock Lomond ES as we establish a partnership with them. (Sept. 2019 - May 2020).  Sign up on the connect card or in the office to help make a difference in a child's life.  To learn more, we will contact you.

Vacation Bible School:  

  • ROAR VBS Registrtion is now open!  July 8-12, 8:45 am - 12:15 pm.  VBS Sunday is July 14!  Open to all kids who have finished kindergarten - 5th grade (based off the 2018-2019 school year).  Visit stthomasumc.orgto register today!
  • VBS Volunteers ar meeting Sunday, June 2, 12:15 pm in Rm. 300.  If you have not yet committed, it would be a good time to come see where you fit in.
  • Decoration Workshops are continuing on Wednesday mornings starting at 10 am.  Prepping and construction projects abound.  Please join us if you are able.

Outdoor Movie Night, Saturday, June 1st, 7:30 pm.  We're kicking off the summer with an outdoor showing of "The Sandlot" on our front lawn, rated PG and run time is 1 hour and 41 minutes.  Free and open to the public - bring your own lawn chair or blanket to sit on and a picnic to eat.  Ice Cream nd Snow Cone Trucks will be on site that night for a special treat!  Tell your friends and sign up today.

Ladies Spring Tea:  The United Methodist Women are hosting their Spring Tea on Sunday, May 19 from 2 - 4pm.  All ladies in the church are invited to hear Jennifer Lewis from Merrifield Garden Center.  She will bring examples and speak about Perennials for Your Garden.  Join us for fellowship and to learn about possible plants for your yard.

Spiritual Gifts Class:  Through our baptism, we are commissioned to use our gifts to continue the ministry of Jesus and every disciple has a role to play.  We are all called, gifted, and needed in the ministry of the church.  Through this 3 hour class, we'll explore spiritual gifts in more depth, how God has gifted you, where God may want you to use your gifts, and the difference between servanthood and volunteering.  This class will be taught by Pastor Abi at a time convenient to those interested in participating.  Sign up to learn more in the weekly bulletin.

Church Picnic on Sunday, June 9 from 2-5pm at Northern Fauquier Community Park.  Come join us for fishing, food, and fellowship!  The Kitchen Ministry Team, Lay Leaders, and Outreach Committee will be cooking chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs and bratwurst, but we need your help to provide side dishes and dessert!  We're also looking for people to help with setup and clean-up.  If you're able to lend a hand please sign up on your Connect Card.

Calling all Forrest Gumps:  Spring has sprung and so has the grass around Campus.  If you have ever wanted to drive a tractor and cut grass, here is your opportunity.  The church has 3 lawn tractors, a lawnmower and a couple of edgers that would love to be used by you.  Depending on weather, we normally cut grass on Wednesday or Thursday mornings so the campus looks nice for Sunday Service.  For those who can't make it during the morning hours there are plenty of opportunities in the evening.  If you are interested in helping out with the lawn this season, sign up on your Connect Card.  Questions, contact Will Ameen at This email address is being protected from spambots. Sunbeam Children's Center Registration:  We are accepting registration materials for the 2019-2020 school year for our Preschool and Day Care.  Our Day Care is open to children 6 weeks old to Pre-Kindergarten.  You can visit our website at www.stthomasumc.org/sunbeam or stop by the front office Monday - Friday 6:30 am - 6:30 pm.  Please ask for Veronica McGuin, Director or Sarah Hayes, Assistant Director.

Quilts 4 Kids:  This quilting group meets on Wednesday mornings from 10 am until noon and makes or ties quilts to give to children in hospitals, foster care, homeless shelters, etc.  No sewing experience required and group is open to men and women.  Sign up today! 

Do You Like To Read?  The Media Circle would love to have you join us.  Each month the group selects a book to read and discuss or a movie to watch.  Meetings also include a time of fellowship and prayer.  We meet on the first Friday of the month at 7 pm in the church library.  For more information, please contact Teresa Hayes at This email address is being protected from spambots. Calling all Crafters:  The UMW crafters are now working on projects for some seasonal mini-bazaars as well as the Annual Christmas Bazaar, Thursdays at 9:30am in Room 300.  Join to help out for a day or for the duration.

New Summer Camps for Kids:  This summer, our children's ministry plans to host several day camps for 6 - 11 year olds in addition to VBS.  Mark your calendars now so you don't miss out:

  • Sports Camp, June 17 - 21, 9am - 4 pm
  • Science Camp, June 24 - 28, 9 am - 4 pm
  • VBS, July 8 - 12 (8:45 am - 12:15 pm, free)
  • Cooking Camp, July 15 - 19, 9 am - 4 pm
  • Music & Arts Camp, July 22 -26, 9 am - 4 pm

Registration opens March 1; cost is $125 per camp week, price increases to $150 after May 1.  After Care from 4-5 pm is an additional $25.

D.C. Homeless Mission:  Our next D.C. Homeless mission is June 2nd.  For information on items needed, please see the list on the Welcome Table or visit our Website  at stthomasumc.org.  Sign up on the Connect card if you are interested in going on the trip.

Food Pantry:  Every Saturday 9 to 12 noon.  The Pantry is low on these staples:  cereal, canned tuna, and peanut butter.  Please leave your donated items in the box in the Narthex.  URGENT NEED for volunteers to pick up donated food at local grocery stores.  We need permanent and substitute volunteers.  If you are interested, please contact Lynn Furlong at 703-499-0243.  9am - 12pm volunteers are needed weekdays on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday to sort through donated items.  Questions please contact Samantha Daniel Food Pantry Coordinator at 703-368-5161 x 107 or at This email address is being protected from spambots.
