"The living, the living - they praise you, as I am doing today; parents tell their children about your faithfulness." (Isaiah 38:19)
When my middle son married his wife, it was clear that they would continue to attend the Baptist Church in which she grew up. Throughout the years of their marriage, they have maintained strong walks of faith. As is the custom in the Baptist Church, their two boys were dedicated as infants. They are now 15 and 12 and are ready to be baptized and declare their faith in the presence of their family, friends, and church. I am so very blessed to watch them as they take their own faith journeys. I see it demonstrated when they pray before their meals (even when there is no adult prompting them) and in their participation in youth groups. At our Christmas dinner, we took turns reading parts of the Christmas story. They have met with a pastor and affirmed their desire to be baptized and will spend the next few months in preparation for that holy event. I am so very proud of them.
At St. Thomas, we are starting this year's Confirmation process. How beautiful it is to see young people being led to a life of following Jesus.
Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I pray your blessing on those who are baptized into Your holy family throughout your one holy, universal and apostolic church. Help all of us to support our younger generations to feel your love and grace each and every day. Amen
