I have often shared that one of my favorite books is HELP, THANKS, WOW: The Three Essential Prayers by Anne Lamott. She says, "...there's something to be said about keeping prayer simple." I'd like to add another word to her list: THIS.
Sunshine and walking along the ocean THIS
Blue skies with beautiful white clouds THIS
NIght skies with uncountable stars THIS
Open arms raised to the heavens only THIS
In the chapter on WOW, Ms. Lamott writes, "Gorgeous, amazing things come into our lives when we are paying attention..." When I take the time to pay attention to the wonderful things that come into my life I praise God for it all with WOW and THANKS and THIS. And when there are difficult times to deal with–HELP is my cry. How awesome that with all the gazillions of words we have at our command there are really just 3 (or 4) that can suffice!
Father, Son and Holy Spirit - Thank you for this glorious creation of our world. Let me be ever mindful of Your blessings and Your love. Amen
