Chalk Art Challenge - Even though we can't be together right now, there are still ways we can reach others in our community and share our love of Christ.  One is to write an encouraging message or draw a picture using sidewalk chalk.  Take a picture of your work and share it to social media using @STUMCreach or email your picture to This email address is being protected from spambots. Young Adult Virtual Gathering:  Collee student Samantha Spencer and Pastor Abi are organizing a virtual gathering of young adults (18-30 years) in May to connect with one another and for a little friendly competition (Game Night, Scavenger Hunt, etc.).  Interested?  Please write Young Adult in the "sign Ups" on the Livestream Worship page on the church website, or email This email address is being protected from spambots. Tuesday night dinners have resumed with take-out orders only.  Information about pick up:

  • Curbside pick up only at main entrnce
  • Pick up window is 5:30 - 6:30 pm
  • Check or cash.  Checks made out to STUMC
  • Please have money ready (price is same)
  • Food will be packaged for reheating
  • Place orders online through the "Tuesday Night Dinner: page on our website.  Gluten free meal is available.  Kids meal is available.  Beverages are not available.

Hail Wannabe Tractor Drivers!  The Lawn Care Crew has 3 lawn tractors and other grass cutting tools that are easy to use and waiting to be used this grass cutting season.  If interested, please check the Connect Card and one of the 16 crew members with grass-stained shoes will certainly get in touch with you soon.

Shoe Collection -  Extended!!!  We need more shoes in order for the company to pick ours up..  Do you have any gently used shoes you no longer wear and need to clean out that closet? Please being them to the church to the collection area. We will be bagging them and sending them to an organization that trains people to repair them and sell them as a start-up business to provide them the ability to support their families. This way we can walk in their shoes as they walk in ours.  You can leave your shoes on the bench next to the front door.  Thanks for your help!!!

Box Tops for Education:  You can help our patner school, Loch Lomond ES with your everyday purchases!  The Mission Council is collecting Box Tops for Education labels to be given to Loch Lomond ES.  Every valid Box Top clip is worth $.10 for the school to use.  Just cut them off your everyday purchases (example :  ALL General Mills cereal boxes, yogurt, etc.) and bring to the church and place in the labeled box located in the Fellowship Hall.  If you have any questions, please contact Lori Perez at 703-967-8863. 

New Communications Request Form:  St Thomas’ Communication Committee has created a Communications Request Form, accessible through the website, that is a one-stop shop for submitting a request for announcements in newsletters, on Facebook, in the weekly bulletins and more.  This allows the same information to be shared in multiple places and saves you from having to alert multiple staff and lay leaders.  This form is available at :

D.C. Homeless Mission:  Our  D.C. Homeless mission has been cancelled until further notice.   We are still in need of blue jeans (all sizes),light jackets, raincoats, tarps, shoes men's underwear (M & L), hoodies, blankets, backpacks, belts, washcloths, razors, combs, deodorant and toothpaste (travel size). No women's or children's clothes.  Please leave donations in the Collection bin in the Narthex..

Food Pantry:  Every Saturday 9 to 12 noon.  The Pantry is low on these staples:  spaghetti sauce, and peanut butter.  Please leave your donated items in the box in the Narthex.  URGENT NEED for volunteers to pick up donated food at local grocery stores.  We need permanent and substitute volunteers.  If you are interested, please contact Lynn Furlong at 703-499-0243.  9am - 12pm volunteers are needed weekdays on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday to sort through donated items.  Questions please contact Jenny Miller, Food Pantry Assistant Coordinator at 703-368-5161 x 107
