Untrim A Tree and A Senior Christmas:  The spirit of Christmas is upon us!  Instead of trees with tags on them this year, we will be taking our names off line.  Please go to the Events page under Reach on the website or click this link  Look at all of the names for Untrim A Tree (children identified by Social Services) and "A Senior Christmas" ( permanent residents of Manassas Health and Rehab). Note the number, click on the sign up page link and sign up. Please bring your wrapped gifts (Seniors prefer gift bags) to the church by December 9th. Lets give a Merry Christmas to all!

ADVENT FAMILY NIGHT - Virtual Family Advent Night: Gather your family and join us November 29 at 5pm on our Facebook page for a virtual experience! This tradition helps us center ourselves for the season of Advent and will feature the Advent Wreath lighting, Advent Box unboxing, story, time of prayer, and music! You can find the video on our website, or go to our St. Thomas UMC Facebook page. This is open to all, so we hope you will plan to join us!

Coat Collection:  The St. Thomas Community Clothing Closet and the Food Pantry are providing coats for all our guests who will come to pick up turkeys on November 21st.  We are collecting winter coats.  They can be new or gently used, but ask that they are clean, and all zippers and buttons are in working order.  All adult sizes S - XXL are needed, but especially medium and large sizes.  Coats can be dropped off in Narthex clothing box or contact Renee Kinnear This email address is being protected from spambots. Christmas Day Dinner: It's our 20th annual Christmas Day Dinner!  This is our gift to the community - no charge.  Meals will be available for curbside pickup from 11:00am - 3:00pm.  Please invite your neighbors, friends, and family to come.

NEW Community Clothing Closet provides clothing to those in need in our community starting October 17th.  We will be distributing clothing during Saturday Food Pantry hours on the 3rd and 4th Saturdays each month.  All social distancing rules will be followed.  Volunteers are needed to sort and fold clothing throughout the week, and to bag the requested clothing on Saturday mornings.  For more details about this ministry or to volunteer, please email/call Renee Kinnear at This email address is being protected from spambots. Christmas Crafts Bazaar:  This year due to the pandemic, the UMW are moving their annual bazaar online in three phases. The third phase of our Virtual Bazaaars will include our ornaments.  To see the available items, go to the church website or  Orders will be taken December 6 - 12th with curbside pickup on December 15th.  To order, email item number to This email address is being protected from spambots. As a part of the Bazaar, the UMW are also selling homemade peanut brittle. Click here to order.  Two remaining pickup dates:  Nov. 17th and Dec. 15th.  Curbside pickup at the church parsonage house 4:30 - 5:30 on those days (same day as Bazaar pickup).  

RADA Cutlery Products are available for sale through the UMW>  Since we can't take orders in person, you can order online by going to  The UMW will earn a small amount on each order and all proceeds will go to missions.  Promotion ends 12/12/2020.

Notecards to Commemorate Leslie Oakes' retirement after 25 years of service to St. Thomas and our community, are on sale now. Debbie Barnard did a painting memorializing St. Thomas, which was presented to Leslie in June.  Copies of this painting have also been made into notecards,suitabe for framing.  Six - 4X6 cards for $10.00 or 1 - 5X7 for $10.00 are for sale.  All proceeds go towards the Food Pantry that is near and dear to Leslie.  Call the church office to purchase.  These make wonderful gifts and even stocking stuffers.

White House Ornaments - White House Ornaments are available now! You can order them by contacting the church office. They are $22 each. Please pay by cash or check with checks made out to STUMW. All proceeds go to support missions.  This promotion goes until 11/15/2020..

New Communications Form -The Comuncations committee has created a Communications Request Form, accessible through the website, that is a one-stop shop for submitting a request for announcements in newsletters, on Facebook, in the weekly bulletins and more.  This allows the same information to be shared in multiple places and saves you from having to alert multiple staff and lay leaders.  This form is available at :   

Food Pantry:  Every Saturday 9 to 12 noon.  The Pantry is low on these staples:  spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, feminine products, toilet paper and dog and cat food..  Please leave your donated items in the box in the Narthex.  URGENT NEED for volunteers to pick up donated food at local grocery stores.  We need permanent and substitute volunteers.  If you are interested, please contact Lisa Detwiler at 703-623-5884.  9am - 12pm volunteers are needed weekdays to organize and sort food.  Questions please contact Jhenny Michalek, Food Pantry Coordinator at 703-368-5161 x 107.
