Weekly Announcements

White House Ornaments - White House Ornaments are available now! You can order them by contacting the church office. They are $22 each. Please pay by cash or check with checks made out to STUMW. All proceeds go to support missions.  This promotion goes until 11/15/2020.

Meals for First Responders - Buy a Tuesday night dinner for $6.00 and donate a meal for our first responders during this trying time.  You can either tell them to keep the change or make an outright donation.  Any amount will be great.  We have already taken meals to two different fire houses.  The police department is next.  We will keep going until the money runs out.  Your Missions Committee has already put in $300.  This is one way to show our appreciation.  We are encouraging you to take a few minutes to write a card of encouragement to include with our "Keep the Change"  ministry for first responders.  This is a great hands-on mission project for all ages.  Write a card as a way to lift the spirits of oir first responders during these difficult times.  Then, bring your cards on Tuesday when you pick up dinner or drop off during the week!  We'll do the rest.

New Communications Form -The Comuncations committee has created a Communications Request Form, accessible through the website, that is a one-stop shop for submitting a request for announcements in newsletters, on Facebook, in the weekly bulletins and more.  This allows the same information to be shared in multiple places and saves you from having to alert multiple staff and lay leaders.  This form is available at : http://stthomasumc.org/resources/communications-request.html

D.C. Homeless Mission:  Our  D.C. Homeless mission has been cancelled until further notice. While we are not going to DC at this time to administer to the homeless, we are still collecting clothes for men, women and children, to be given out to those who come to our Food Pantry. We will begin doing this in October, Please bring your gently used clothing to the church when you can. In the mean time, we need volunteers to sort the clothes and to help give them out during Food Pantry hours on Saturdays. Please contact Renee Kinnear at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to volunteer. Social distancing will be observed.

Food Pantry:  Every Saturday 9 to 12 noon.  The Pantry is low on these staples:  spaghetti sauce, and peanut butter.  Please leave your donated items in the box in the Narthex.  URGENT NEED for volunteers to pick up donated food at local grocery stores.  We need permanent and substitute volunteers.  If you are interested, please contact Lynn Furlong at 703-499-0243.  9am - 12pm volunteers are needed weekdays on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday to sort through donated items.  Questions please contact Jenny Miller, Food Pantry Assistant Coordinator at 703-368-5161 x 107
