Operation Christmas Child News: This year we are starting a monthly collection:
January & February needs: Winter Items: hats, gloves/mittens, scarves, socks, fishing or sewing kits, clothesline. Non-liquid hygiene items: toothbrushes, small tissues, mild bar soap, wash clothes, brushes/combs, fun band-aids, lip balms.
Confirmation Classes begin Tuesday, January 28, 6 - 7:15pm in Room 300. All teens 6th Grade and older who are ready to take this next step in their faith journey are invited to join us. Contact Caleb for more details.
The OWLS will be meeting on Friday, January 17th at the Gainesville Rehab Center, 7501 Heritage Village Plaza, Gainesville, VA at 10:15 am where we will sing several favorite hymns, as well as some winter songs to the residents. We will sing for about 30 minutes encouraging the residents to join us Following this we will travel to Haymarket, about 2 miles, to have lunch at Giuseppe's Italian Restaurant. Please plan on joining us as we reach out to others. Good singing voices are not a requirement, just the desire to bring joy to others. Next START trip meeting, Monday, January 13th, 7 pm. We are currently scheduled for two mission trips to North Carolina.
Mission Trip#1 - March 8th - 15th. This trip is planned to coinside with our friends from Charlotte, who we have worked with on the last two trips to Swansboro. We expect to be housed in the New Recovery Center in Trenton, NC. This facility has two new mobile homes, each having 12 bunk beds. They also have electrical and water hookups for trailers, as well as a dump station.
Mission Trip #2 - April 5th - April 9th - This trip is being planned during Holy Week, from Palm Sunday thru Holy Thursday, so that youth ( 15 and older) can participate during their Spring Break with their parents.
St. Thomas Leadership Orientation - On Tuesday, January 14th, we will host a brief orientation for all new church leaders in 2020 to help equip you for your positions. We will cover scheduling, reimbursement procedures, communication timelines that are particular to St. Thomas.
Tuesday Night Dinners will resume January 14th.

Sonshine Choir - Pre-K to K Sunday 11AM - 12. Kristi Swanson leads.
KIDZ Rock Choir - Grades 1 - 5 6:15 - 7 Tristan Troyer leads.
JNS Choir - 6 - 12th grades. 12 noon until 1PM.. Dom Izzo leads.
Tuesday Night Dinner New “Pilot Program” for Kid’s Dine-in Meals: Along with our regular menu, we will also have a kid’s dine-in entree which includes one of the regular menu sides and the dessert. Kids 5 years and under who select the kid’s dine- in entree, eat free with a paying adult, and kids 6-8 years who select the kid’s dine-in entree eat for $3.00 with a paying adult.
New Communications Request Form: St Thomas’ Communication Committee has created a Communications Request Form, accessible through the website, that is a one-stop shop for submitting a request for announcements in newsletters, on Facebook, in the weekly bulletins and more. This allows the same information to be shared in multiple places and saves you from having to alert multiple staff and lay leaders. D.C. Homeless Mission: Our next D.C. Homeless mission is January 4th. Sign up on the Connect card if you are interested in going on the trip. We are in need of blue jeans (all sizes), men's underwear (M & L), hoodies, blankets, backpacks, belts, washcloths, deodorant and toothpaste (travel size). No women's or children's clothes. Please leave donations in the Collection bin in the Narthex..
Food Pantry: Every Saturday 9 to 12 noon. The Pantry is low on these staples: cereal, canned tuna, and peanut butter. Please leave your donated items in the box in the Narthex. URGENT NEED for volunteers to pick up donated food at local grocery stores. We need permanent and substitute volunteers. If you are interested, please contact Lynn Furlong at 703-499-0243. 9am - 12pm volunteers are needed weekdays on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday to sort through donated items.
