We believe that faith is not a spectator sport and want folks to discover their place in ministry based on their spiritual gifts, life experiences, and passion for ministry! Periodically throughout the year, we offer small group classes to help members identify their spiritual gifts and then use them.
In the meantime, there are many ways to get connected and be a part of what God is doing through St. Thomas -- whether it's through our food pantry, greeting on Sundays or siging in one of our choirs. There is something for everyone. To learn more, please contact the church office to help find the right fit for your gifts and your schedule.
IMMEDIATE, SHORT-TERM NEEDS (1 Day)
- Living Nativity Volunteers -- This annual event on Saturday, December 8 (rain date December 9) from 5:30 - 8:30 pm often witnesses more than 250 families who drive through our parking lot to witness the story of the birth of the Christ Child! As always, it takes many hands to put this event together - set builders, actors/actresses, scene managers, food providers and many others - well over 100 people, altogether. If you have any questions about the Drive-thru Nativity, please contact coordinators, Renee Kinnear or Ron Campbell through the church office. To participate as a volutneer, sign up in worshp on your Connect Card or contact the church office, 703-368-5161.
ONGOING, MONTHLY NEEDS (1 Sunday per Month)
- Ushers: Help ensure the worship service runs smoothly by helping to seat guests, passing out bulletins, taking the morning offering, etc. Ushers typically serve once every 4 to 6 weeks at their preferred service. Contact Pastor Abi and she'll help you get connected to the head usher for the particular service of interest. This is a great post for families to serve together.
- Hospitality Ministry: Help staff, prepare and clean up our coffee service and hospitality that is offered throughout the morning on Sundays. Contact Janell Weed or Frank Priest, 703-368-5161 to help, or stop by the kitcehn any Sunday morning to introduce yourself.
