A graduate of the University of Virginia, Wesley Seminary, and most recently George Mason, Abi has served churches in California and Virginia, as well as serving on staff with the Alexandria District. Before joining the team at St. Thomas on July 1, 2018, Abi was part of the pastoral team at St. Stephen’s UMC in Burke where she was responsible for overseeing ministries with children and newcomers. In this capacity, the children’s ministry grew from 65 to more than 340 children who were regularly involved in some aspect of their weekly programming. She brings a wealth of experience across a range of fields, including church planter, crisis counselor, foster parent, coach, program developer, and co-founder of two non-profits, the Jeremiah Project and Phoenix Rising. Abi is married to fellow wahoo, Lacy, who is the E-Newsletter editor with The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in Alexandria. They have an adopted daughter, Sophia (12), who loves all animals, but especially her cockapoo, Bailey Buttons. The whole family enjoys going to the movies, baseball, and premiere league Soccer – preferably in England!
